American alligator

It's hard to take a funny photo of an alligator. This was the best I could do after a morning at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. The big bulls were a little feisty because mating season is approaching and the Harleys heading on A1A to bike week in Daytona Beach sound like male gators bellowing.
For those of you not familiar with the Alligator Farm, it's worth a visit (www.alligatorfarm.com). It's been around since 1893 and has a world class wading bird rookery. The great white egrets and the wood storks have started nesting. The yellow crown night herons, the roseate spoonbills arrived while I was there and there is a smattering of ibises. For nature photographers, the rookery is a huge draw.
